The biggest shopping day of the year is drawing closer, and we’ve done a little more investigating for you so can make your list, but won’t necessarily need to check it twice! This time we’ve gone through the Best Buy Black Friday ad page by page to find all the video camera deals they have to offer. And don’t forget that last week we reviewed the deals that Walmart is offering this holiday season. Make sure to compare the two so you know where the best value is hiding!

Camcorders

Kodak Playfull 1080p HD Flash Memory Camcorder

Found on page 1 of the Best Buy Black Friday ad.

Normal Price: $129.95

Best Buy Price: $69.99

Features: 4x digital zoom, 1.5” screen display, easy social media sharing

Our Opinion: This would be a good camera for a teenager or college student, but it definitely is not considered a professional camcorder. It is great because it is portable and versatile, but you’re not going to get great quality videos because of the small lens. However, if you’re a blogger that does a lot of video, this may be an option to consider. Kodak makes it really easy to share video online, so this might cut out some steps in your process. Overall, a really good price, but not a super high quality camera.

Sony DCR-SX85 16GB Flash Memory Camcorder

Found on page 6 of the Best Buy Black Friday ad.

Normal Price: $249.00

Best Buy Price: $149.99

Features: 60x optical zoom, 2000x digital zoom, 3” LCD touchscreen display

Our Opinion: Watch out! This is a standard definition camera. Unless you have a solid reason to still be using SD footage, stay clear of this camera. It may seem like a great deal, and it does have a decent lens, but really…who uses SD anymore? It also has really poor reviews for its still picture taking ability. Apparently they turn out extremely fuzzy. Overally, unless you’ve been shopping relentlessly for an SD camera, just stay clear of this one.

Sony Handycam HDR-CX160 16GB Flash Memory Camcorder

Found on page 6 of the Best Buy Black Friday ad.

Normal Price: $449.99

Best Buy Price: $299.99

Features: 1920 x 1080 high definition, 30x optical zoom, 350x digital zoom, 3” touch screen LCD display, built in USB

Our Opinion: This is going to be a really good camera for home movies or people just starting to experiment with film making. It has a good zoom, a good amount of memory and shoots in full HD. However, there are a few cons with this camera. First of all, the software it comes with is not compatible with Mac computers. Many users also complained that the USB interface it comes with is practically useless since it will not communicate with other video editing programs. If you’re not planning on doing a ton of video editing, or you already have all the extra cords and software necessary, then this camera is a really good deal to take advantage of.

 Sony HDR-CX160

Sony HDR-XR160 160GB Hard Drive Camcorder

Found on page 6 of the Best Buy Black Friday ad.

Normal Price: $549.99

Best Buy Price: $399.99

Features: 1920×1080 HD resolution, 30x optical zoom, 350x digital zoom, 3” LCD touch screen display, low light sensors, 54 hours of digital recording capability

Our Opinion: This is a pretty stellar camera. It has lots of memory for lots of recording, a decent lens, and is relatively small and light. If you shoot outside a lot, you may want something that has an actual viewfinder, as some users said that this display can be hard to see in bright conditions. But really, if that is the only user complaint, it seems pretty obvious that this is a good camera. Best Buy is offering a good deal on it, too, so this one may need to be on the top of your list!

DSLRs with Video Capabilities

Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR Camera

Found on page 6 of the Best Buy Black Friday ad.

Normal Price: $899.99

Best Buy Price: $799.99

Features: 18 megapixels, 3” swivel LCD screen, 1920×1080 HD video

Our Opinion: Buy it. This is one of our favorite cameras that’s available right now. It takes beautiful video, along with stunning pictures. The T3i is definitely worth the extra cost because you are getting full HD video capability, as well as the swivel screen. You may not think that swivel screen is all that useful, but next time you go to shoot stock footage of a pack of chihuahuas you’ll change your mind. (At least, that’s what changed my mind!) This is a fantastic camera, and the price is right!
