Stock Footage of the Week: Holding Your Ground
“No tree becomes rooted and sturdy unless many a wind assails it. For by its very tossing it tightens its grip and plants its roots more securely; the fragile trees are those that have grown in a sunny valley.”
-Seneca the Younger
Welcome to the third installment of our new series, where we bring you stock footage to inspire your work week—and beyond. This week as we were browsing our top performing stock footage clips we came across a video of a tree growing from a steep and rocky mountainside. Even though we weren’t initially sure why, something about this serene footage stood out.
This clip provides a strong sense of balance and grace—the tree is standing tall even as it leans back against the treacherous terrain. Unbothered and unafraid, its leaves rustle gently in the breeze. It bends but does not break. It’s roots have overcome rocks and erosion to hold firmly, despite many obstacles.
While the tree isn’t particularly big, it dominates the landscape, watching over the dramatic mountain ranges on the horizon and overlooking a dense forest below.
Facing a busy work week, it’s deceptively easy to forget how far we’ve come in the face of how far we’ve yet to go—but as we all climb higher up that mountain towards our goals, we hope you will also be inspired by this sturdy little tree.
