Take The Road Less Traveled: Explore Best-Selling Nature Footage of Changing Seasons
Burnt orange, coral, goldenrod, and ruby: for much of the world, these are only a few of the vibrant jewel tones that dominate autumn, inspiring filmmakers to capture beautiful nature stock footage. Color plays a critical role in the changing of seasons—it can even be its own story. From Francis Ford Coppola and Stanley Kubrick to Ang Lee and Wong Kar-Wai, the history of filmmaking is studded with directors and cinematographers who use color and light to tell complex and layered stories about the human experience.
Inspired by these greats and by the bright, painterly splashes of color dominating the season, we’ve created our own color story for autumn.
In creating our ode to fall, it was other art forms like poetry that sparked our creativity the most. Drawing on Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken,” we were inspired by the poetry of nature as it transitions from the warm green of summer to kaleidoscope of red, orange, and gold in the autumn, and finally to the stark, crystalline white of winter.
